#WearOrange: Resources on Racism and Gun Violence

On Saturday, June 3rd SURJ of Greater Lafayette threw a community cookout with YWCA of Greater Lafayette and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. This was part of a nationwide #wearorange event.

This gave SURJ members the opportunity to learn more about gun violence and racism. Research shows that Black Americans are much more likely to die from gun violence than White Americans. Further, we cannot fail to mention the black lives cut short by police brutality and the growing number of white supremacists.

This issue is important and complex, so we've added a "Gun Violence" section to our growing reading list.

We'd recommend you also explore the "Reproductive Justice" Section. Gun Violence is a reproductive justice issue. People of color should be able to raise their families in safe environments, places without gun violence.
